“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” – 1 Peter 5:6 (NKJV)
Humility: A Mark of True Strength
Humility is not about thinking less of yourself but about thinking of yourself less and placing God at the center of your life. It requires surrender, trust, and patience—things that can be difficult to practice when the world pressures us to take control, seek recognition, and demand our rights. But as believers, we are called to a higher way of living. We are called to walk humbly before our God.
Choosing humility means we acknowledge that God’s plans are far greater than our own. It means trusting His perfect timing rather than rushing ahead to create our own version of success. When we humble ourselves under His mighty hand, we position ourselves for His elevation—an elevation that no human recognition can compare to.
Waiting on God’s Timing
The greatest rewards come not from self-exaltation, but from waiting on God’s exaltation. His timing is flawless, and when He lifts you up, it will be at the right moment, for the right purpose, and with lasting impact.
Many times, impatience leads us into unnecessary struggles. When we try to force doors open or elevate ourselves through worldly means, we may experience temporary victories but at the cost of divine purpose. However, when we wait upon the Lord, we avoid unnecessary detours and receive a promotion that is both sustainable and God-ordained.
A Prayer for Humility
May we never fall into the trap of seeking our own glory, but instead, may humility reign in our hearts. May we continually submit to God, trusting that His hand is guiding us, protecting us, and preparing us for greater things. And when the time comes, may His exaltation be evident in our lives for His glory alone.
